Mark Rogan – Anxiety/ Paranoia EP [DSNT Records]

HERE IT IS. FINALLY. Our premier release on DSNT Records is a true reflection of the label’s mission statement to act as a medium for forward thinking techno of unwavering and uncompromising quality.

With this belief at the very core of what we do, we have put together this flagship release to showcase the remarkable and unrelenting talent of Belfast based producer Mark Rogan. Bolstering and reinforcing the power of the originals, this release comes fully equipped with some of the finest names in deep, dark and visceral techno on remix duties: Jerome Hill, Bas Mooy, Paul Mac and Forward Strategy Group – a mob of techno heavyweights if there ever was one.

With previous releases on Paul Mac’s Sula Muse Recordings (“Aurora”, “Black Hole”), Chris Cowie’s Bellboy Records (“Subline EP”), Spanish imprint Triple Recordings (), Static Recordings, Labrynth Recordings (“Cops Have the Best Dope”), Dublin Xpress and M_Rec, Mark has imprinted his name firmly as a prolific producer, capable of intense and creative productions, and this EP is no exception.

“Anxiety/Paranoia” is an EP of industrial-strength techno; driving, hypnotic and atmospheric. Pairing sweeping pads with grungy bass lines, it’s the perfect combination for those late-night, after-hours gatherings where anything goes.
First track, “Anxiety,” centres around a pummelling, signature Rogan bass beat, while the other elements build subtly around, adding percussive venom, moody atmospherics and killer decimated samples. The Forward Strategy Group remix plummets the original into the glacial depths of techno while Paul Mac opts for an out and out frenetic attack. Warehouse alarm systems and off kilter stabs perforate the second lead track of the EP, “Paranoia,” while both undisputed techno dons, Bas Mooy and Jerome Hill, take vastly different approaches to create tracks which have the power to annihilate dance floors.
Hard, dark and industrial is the best way to summarize this EP. “Anxiety/ Paranoia” stands alone in an isolated and sparsely populated dark corner of techno, setting itself completely apart from the rest.
