Vi presentiamo oggi Aremun Podcast, nel numero 43 vi proponiamo il mix con intervista di Joachim Spieth, dal ‘99 dj e produttore successivamente fonda la sua label Affin. Suona la musica che egli stesso produce, o le produzioni che stampa nella propria etichetta. E’ considerato da molti addetti ai lavori, oltre che da noi, un vero e proprio pilastro della comunità elettronica.

1. Quale è stato il tuo approcio alla musica elettronica?
Dopo essere entrato in contatto con l’Hip-Hop strumentale (Mo Wax di Londra, ecc) ho scoperto Warp Records (il punto di non ritorno…) e in seguito altri marchi di sicuro. Ma questi due che ho nominato, per me sono stati i più importanti per entrare nel circuito della musica elettronica.

2. Quali sono stati i primi dischi che hai comprato e dei primi artisti che hanno segnato la tua infanzia?
Diversi gruppi Heavy Metal come Metallica, Soundgarden, Mudhoney, e altri… Non sono sicuro, ma credo che “Ride The Lightning” dei Metallica è stato il primo disco che ho comprato.

3. Dove hai svolto la tua prima performance?
E’ stato un club di Stoccarda (Germania), Climax. Ho suonato con un amico (avevamo 16 o 17 anni). E ‘stato molto impressionante per noi, come si può immaginare … quasi 20 anni fa.

4. Allora, qual è stato il tuo momento di maggior orgoglio fino ad oggi?
Non posso nominarne solo uno, ma essere citato in una chart da Martin L Gore dei Depeche Mode è stato un momento simile. (http://joachimspieth.bandcamp.com/track/sensual)
Ascoltavo la loro musica da quando ero bambino, tutt’ora gli ascolto e mi piace molto, ecco questo è stato davvero un momento speciale.

5. Come vedi la scena della musica elettronica attuale e quali sviluppi ti aspetti?
Penso che sia emozionante vedere come si è sviluppata negli ultimi anni. Sta diventando sempre più diversificata, è impossibile fare una panoramica di tutto ciò che sta accadendo. Non è facile per le nuove etichette farsi strada, a causa delle masse di contenuti che appaiono ogni giorno nei negozi. Quindi sono necessari buoni filtri su più livelli.

6. Con quali strumenti hai iniziato a produrre musica e come fatto il tuo studio oggi?
Ho lavorato principalmente con una EMU-Sampler e Cubase. Oggi ho un pò di macchine in più e sto lavorando principalmente con Ableton Live. E’ un potente software DAW.

7. Mi parli di Affin, ci sono in gioco nuove versioni e nuovi artisti?
Cerco di concentrarmi più su artisti che sono già nel roster dell’etichetta, ma a volte firmiamo nuovi artisti. Electric Rescue proveniente dalla Francia è sulla nostra lista per la prossima release (Eridani EP il 29 settembre), inoltre avremo un uscita V/A (ID EP), nel mese di ottobre. Su questo EP ci sono solo “nuovi” artisti. Per ottobre / novembre abbiamo in programma di rilasciare il prossimo 12″ di Keith Carnal (con il remix di Joel Mull & Francois X).

8. C’è una traccia che preferisci tra tutte quelle che hai fatto?
Bella domanda. Per la maggior parte di loro ho dei ricordi in mente, quindi non posso dire davvero un brano che preferisco.

9. Che cosa stai suonando ultimamente?
Cerco di includere diversi flussi di Techno che mi piace includere durante i miei Djset. E’ tutta Techno di sicuro, ma voglio avere varietà.

10. Ultima domanda … Che altro possiamo aspettarci da te nei prossimi mesi?
Avrò alcuni brani in licenza nei prossimi mesi e qualcosa che non posso dire in questo momento… Inoltre sto lavorando su nuovi brani e non vedo l’ora di suonarli in alcuni eventi piacevoli (seguitemi su Bandsintown: http:// www.bandsintown.com/JoachimSpieth).

1. How did you approach into electronic music?
After getting in touch with instrumental Hip-Hop (Mo Wax from London etc) i discovered Warp Records (the point of no return…) and later on some other labels for sure. But these 2 i mentioned were most important for getting into electronic music for me.

2. What were the first records you bought and the first artists who have marked your childhood?
Several Heavy Metal bands like Metallica, Soundgarden, Mudhoney etc.. Not sure, but i think “Ride The Lightning” from Metallica was the first record i bought.

3. What was the first club you’ve played?
It was a club in Stuttgart (Germany), Climax. I played there with a friend (we were 16 or 17). It was very impressing for us as you can imagine… almost 20 years ago now.

4. So what’s been your proudest moment to date then?
I can’t name just one but being charted by Martin L Gore from Depeche Mode was such a moment. (http://joachimspieth.bandcamp.com/track/sensual)
I listened to their music when i was a child and still like it a lot so this was really special.

5. How do you see the current electronic music scene in and what developments you expect?
I think it’s exciting to see how it developed in the last years. It’s getting more and more diverse, it’s impossible to overview all what’s happening. But it’s also not easy for new labels & acts to come through because of the masses of content appearing every day on the stores. So good filters on several levels are needed.

6. With which instruments did you start producing music and how it made ​​your study today?
I worked mainly with an EMU-Sampler and Cubase. Today i have a bit more gear and I’m mainly working with Ableton Live. It’s such a powerful DAW.

7. Tell me about Affin, there are at stake new releases and new artists?
I try to focus more on artists who are already on the label roster, but sometimes we sign new acts. Electric Rescue from France is “next” on our release list (Eridani EP on 29th September), moreover we’ll have a V/A (ID EP), out in October. On this EP there are only “new” acts. For October/November we plan to release the next 12” from Keith Carnal (with remixes from Joel Mull & Francois X).

8. There’s a track that you prefer among all the ones you’ve made​​?
Good question. To most of them i have memories in mind, so i can’t say really one tune i prefer.

9. What you’re currently playing out?
I try to include several streams of Techno that i like when I’m DJing to keep it interesting. It’s all Techno for sure, but i want to have variety.

10. Last question … What more can we look forward to from you over the next few months?
I will have some licensed tunes in the next months and something i can’t tell at the moment… Moreover i work on new tunes and i’m looking forward to play some nice events (track me on Bandsintown: http://www.bandsintown.com/JoachimSpieth)
